Luke has been a film fan since first seeing Jurassic Park at the Odeon in Ipswich, UK back in ’93. The Odeon is gone but the doughy-eyed sense of idealism remains.

Back in 1978, when The Empire Strikes Back was simply called ‘Star Wars II’, sci-fi author Leigh Brackett handed George Lucas a first draft of the script that was very different to the movie we’d see on screen. Many of the main story beats remain in her first take on the film, but character, motivation and parental revelations are quite different.

We take a look at the Star Wars sequel that could have been and honour the work of the late Leigh Brackett.
